How Do I Use The Media?

As we know, media is one of the most important things to make sure people stay and keep in touch. Media also provide us with everything that we need to know. According to Merriam-Webster dictionary, media means a medium of cultivation, conveyance and expression. There are various types of Medias that can be found which are newspapers, magazines, internet, radio, television and etc. There is no exceptional and classification for who are the users of the particular media since everyone can easily reach it. Media can be easily found everywhere, the advertisements, announcement board, Facebook, Twitter is also classified as the media. So, people can run away for being exceptionally using the media because they will use it no matter why. Including me, I always use the media to always keep up-to-date and being always on track.

First is the television. Television is the medium that permits the use of the printed world, spoken word, pictures in motion, color, music, animation and sound effects all blend into one message, possesses immeasurable potency. Television has become a dominant force, the primary source of news and entertainment and a powerful soapbox from which citizens protests can be communicated to the nation and the world. This medium has greatly altered national election campaigns and has diminished the role of the political parties. Events made large by TV shape public opinion worldwide. According to a research made by Nielsen on June 2009, entitled “How Teens Use Media”, Teenagers is the most group that use television which conquered almost 33% or almost 9 hours per day on television. I am also a part of it, although I can easily consider as an adult. It always is my choice, when I find I am bored because of the easiness to reach. Just sit down and relax, take the remote and I can easily choose which channel that I like. It is made even easier now with the existence of Astro, the broadcast services which broadcast over 153 channels. The channels also have been classified into various types which are cartoons, news, movies and many more. I can choose the channels depending on my mood, as example when I am sad, I will choose the channel that can enlighten me up like cartoons and variety shows. Television also considered by me as the medium to wasting my time. As example, when I got an appointment at 5PM, and the time is currently at 2PM, I will switch on the television, switch it to my favourite channel and just watch it to kill my time. I will also watch television to get know about the current issues by watching the news since it is the easiest way, without need to type or prepare anything. It wills just being viewed on the television, and I will easily get to know about it.

Although television is the medium that is enjoyable and fun to use to, it is also have some of its disadvantages. One of it is the message is temporary, and may require me the multiple exposure for the ad to rise above the clutter. When I know about something through this medium, I will easily know about it every time it shown up, but, due to the temporariness of the message, which means it being viewed just for some period of time, I will forget about it. It is also have the limited length of exposure, due to the relatively expensive costs. Most ads are only thirty seconds long or less, which limits the amount of information that people can communicate. As example, when some of the advertisements are being shown on the television, sometimes I will miss the first seconds of it due to the shortness of the exposure and will lose the chance to understand and comprehend the message that try to be delivered by the ads. So I need to wait for the next time it will be aired up to make sure I will totally understand it. Next is, people cannot choose what they want to see, the content is arranged by the broadcasters. Although there are some channels that already classed as the animation, news or the film channels, we cannot choose what we want to see. As example, when I want to see the variety shows, Running Man. I cannot easily switch on the TV, turn to the particular channel and watch it. I must wait to the time that had been arranged by the broadcasters and watch it at that time. If I miss the opportunity, I will just lose the chance to watch it.

Next up is the radio. Radio offers a wide range of publicity possibilities. It is a mobile medium suited to a mobile people. It reaches the bedroom and breakfast table in the
morning ad rides to and from work in the car, lulls us to sleep at night and goes along to the beach, to the woods and on fishing trips, truly a flexibility that no other medium can match. For ease, radio can be considered as a universal medium enjoyed by people at one time or another during the day, at home, at work and even in the car. For me, I am also using it as a medium to enjoy myself. As we know, radio keeps broadcasting new songs to keep their ranks up. So it is also an advantage to me. I can always know the new songs; enjoy it, and telling my friends about it. It is also a good medium to turn my moment of boredom to the moment of enjoyment. For instance, I am always driving here and there on my car, sending my family, my friends and sometimes it is bored when I am driving and all the passengers are on their own doings. Some of them are sleeping, or just decide to stay quiet. So, when there is radio on that car, I can just turn it on and enjoy the music. One of my favourite uses of the radio is to hear the news. The news on the radio being delivered with a fast and simple pace, means that I can get to know the important part of the news within seconds. It suits me as a student that does not have much time to do many things.

Despite for all the advantages, there are also disadvantages that I can found from the usage of the radio. One of the disadvantages is sometimes, the advertisement interrupting the moment of enjoyment. There is also a period of time that the advertisement is too long until I get bored hearing it. The first thing that came up in my mind when I am turning up the radio is to hear the
music, but when the advertisement went up; I considered is as an interruption. Next is although the news is being told with a fast and simple pace, it can be a disadvantage too. Sometimes, I will miss the important things of the news because of the radio nature is to be a background medium. So I will need to wait until the news being told again or need to find another medium to make me sure about that particular news.

The third media choose by me is the magazines. Magazines are a more focused medium, being classified to its own class. As example is Wanita, is the magazine made only by women; Maskulin, for men; Remaja for teenagers and so on. It is made exclusively to reach the highly targeted audiences. Back to my teenager’s age, I like to read Remaja because the magazine provides me with tons of information for teenagers. As we know, teenager was a time where people always confused with themselves. They keep searching for their identity and personality, and they have lots of questions to be asked to. I was experiencing that kind of hard times too. But because of the existence of this magazine, I can find all the answers inside the book. Magazines also provide better looks and more quality paper than the newspapers. Magazines also help me to know the
information that sometimes is useful to me. I have noticed some section in Remaja that provide the readers with facts that might shock them. The smaller pages than the newspapers also make it easier for me to keep them, so it is an advantage to me to keep the entire magazine because of the size of it.

As usual, although there are so many advantages that one can acquire from something, there must be disadvantages too. It is the same with magazine. One thing that I can notice is the price of the magazines. Because of it designs and better quality of the paper, the urge to increase the price of it is increase to cover up the amount that they used to make it beautiful. Some people will find it unreasonable for them. Next is the fight with another type of magazines. There is magazine that serves same kind of audience. As example, for youth magazine in Malaysia, there are Remaja, Eh! and Youth. So people will make their opinion and adjustment towards the best and the poorest one will get lowest number of readers.

Next media is the Internet. Internet is undoubtedly the most crucial technology of the modern world, the useful application has not only made our lives easier than ever before nut it also plays a very important role in the future developments. This medium has not only
made the communication easy but also the daily lives interactions following the business of people living on the other sides of the world. All the information that we want has become a matter of just the fingertips of users. There are various things

Figure 5 : File sharing providers
served by internet, as example an online portal, online newspapers, blog, file sharing, social network, and etc. I myself use all of this services that have been provided by internet. In short, we can call it as a powerful media because of its strength to gather the entire medium in just one medium. When I am on Internet, I found it useful to gather all the knowledge there. I can find songs, news, educational books, information and almost everything on the internet. I can also use e-mail to send mail to my friends with no cost at all; just need the connection to the internet. I can also use Facebook to keep in contact with my buddies all around the world, since it is the most known social network. Just need to sign up the free account, and I can use almost all the applications there at free of charge. When I am bored and need to find entertainment to entertain me, I can just go to Youtube. There I can search any video, which may entertain me. If I decides to writes and let anyone on the world to know about it, I can start a blog and just spill and write my own idea on that. There is a lot of things I can do with this kind of medium.

Everything has the negative aspect to it and so does internet. We already know that the biggest threat of internet is in the pornography and security threats.
Pornography is widespread over the internet making it inappropriate to be used by the children below certain age. Some research conduct by the U.S Delta Corp stated that 65% of pictures on the internet show the undressed people. So with this easy to get thing, children will easily exposed to pornography and will cause a psychologically damage to them. Next is the security threats. Security over internet cannot be guaranteed due to major hacking techniques and theories, even the interaction between two strangers can lead to friendship and then serious cases of murders can occurred because of the internet launch.

As conclusion, all the media bring the advantages and the disadvantages itself. It is based on ourselves to decide which are the best and worse for us. If we choose that particular media, we need to think what we would do if we choose that, what are the effects of it, is there have any good for us to choose it and etc. If one can think wisely, they can use and manipulate the media for their own ease. There are Arab sayings that says “Who that strive, he will get”. So all of all, we need to strives and make effort of everything that we do.

Purpose of life

Purpose of life is a philosophical question concerning the significance of life or existence in general. It can also be expressed in different forms, such as "Why are we here?", "What is life all about?", and "What is the purpose of existence?". According to Merriam Webster Online Dictionary, purpose means something set up as an object or end to be attained or other words, intention. While, life means the period from birth to death. So we can say that purpose of life means that something that we want to achieves in a period of birth to death.

To me, purpose of my life is to be a good muslim. A good Muslim is a person who has strong unquestionable faith, who consciously strives for the hereafter, by giving, being patient, merciful, forgiving, is full of love and respect, well-mannered, sweet-tongued, kind and a charitable loving person.

To be a good muslim, one must obey all of the regulations that has been prepared for all the muslims in the world. One must also be honest and loyal to his creator. If a servant does not have honest and loyalty to his Creator, one cannot provide any comfort or help to His creatures. One's appearance may be glittering but it has no significance if one's inner self is filthy and rotten. One's words may be sweet and smooth; however they have no importance if one's intentions is that of evil.

As a muslim, one must try to convey the teachings of Islam, and must make sure other peoples to have a good impressions towards Islam. If one as a Muslim shows the bad values to others, peoples will have a negative perceptions toward Islam and this will brings to misconception to Islam.

So, as a good muslim, one must portray an excellent personal example, if one desires to earn the pleasure of Allah (Almighty), this is the way which will lead to success.

My review :

This is the second time I’m doing a review. So, don't expect too much for that. I took around a week to finish this book, it is really a long time because I don’t really have much time to concentrate on reading this book.

The main reason why I bought this book is the cover. It’s beautiful, right? Then, I find the book is interesting from the synopsis. Publisher? Buku FIXI. So without so much hesitation, I bought this book.
The main interesting features in this book are the issues and conflicts that the author tries to cater to its reader. Maybe because of sensitivity or what, I don't know.

For the first time, this book has failing me to predict the ending of the story. Even the plot, climax, everything! There are the reasons why this novel named Kelabu. Seriously.

The way of writing in this novel is also good, especially the dialog. I can assume that the writer was a young lady because she is really good at using the latest slanga. Arrangement of the words is very simple, so that people can easily understand the storyline. She isn’t really into metaphore, the words used is the actual speech we used in our daily life.

Guess what, I've been tricked!! The one thing that I love when reading is that I can create my own image of how the character is. But in Kelabu, once I've drawn the image in my mind, I found out that it is exactly the OPPOSITE of what I thought. I'm surprised!!

Well, this book was really good. Must have. Kudos to Nadia Khan

TOPIC SENTENCE ( Choosing between AMD or Intel processor )

1. Generally, most computer users nowadays are concerned with simple mobility and the use of regular computer tools, like listening to music or watching a movie, using basic software like Microsoft Word or for the Internet.

2. There are some people choosing to use AMD processors, while the other some choose Intel.

3. First, the reason you cannot use either processor on a single motherboard is the pins on the outside each processor.

4. People need to choose between these two processors based on their own perspectives and uses.

5. Intel relies on its huge performance advantage compared to AMD and mainly orients towards servers, AMD is focused on more mainstream computers and has lower prices.

Album review

Album Title : Sang Enemy
Artist : HUJAN
Price : RM26.90

My review :

Sang Enemy is an album that differed than the 3 HUJAN's albums before, this time they are more inclined towards metal and post-hardcore music to be catered to their fans.

After two days I bought this album, I can conclude that HUJAN have tried their best to brings the difference in their new album. Their music is more matured, with the serious music arrangement, I can say that this is the best ! Congratulations HUJAN !

This album features some well-known artists such as Yuna, in the song Janji Kita, Soulja DJ in Ke Selatan and Joe Ke from The Padangs in Mana Mungkin.

Although the music in this album is quite "keras" for some people, but to me, it would still be quite acceptable because the melody is accompanied by the awesome guitar riffs and nice play of vocal from their vocalist, Noh.

Among the other songs in this album is Rumah Kita, Kuala Lumpur oh Kuala Lumpur (an old song, with new touch), DBS, Kembara and Lonely Soldier Boy (acoustic)

Overall, this album can be purchased if you enjoyed metal music and Hardrock, or sometimes, if you want to hear other arrangements applied by HUJAN, it categorised as a must-buy album for you. For all the Raingers out there, you should buy this !

Last weekend, on Saturday 3 of my friends, Qayyum, Afwan, Afian and I went to Teratak Riverview Resort for our fishing trip. We started our journey at 9AM in the morning after preparing our stuff as collecting bait, set up our fishing rod and servicing our car. Along our journey, we had stopped at Shell Sungai Besar to refuel our car and bought some refreshment before we continue our journey. Usually, from our place, Tanjong Karang to Teratak Riverview Resort, Tanjung Malim, it took around 1 hour and half to reach there. We arrived there at 1045AM and without wasting time we go to our first fishing site near the resort entrance. We unpacked our fishing stuff and get ready to set our hook. Afian then got the first bite from the Lampam weighing around 1.5 kilogram, followed by a 1 kilogram Kelah. After we spent around an hour there with not a very good luck, we move to our second site. We need to went through lot of trouble such as crossing the rapid river, swamp area to reach the second site. Afwan try to using the casting technique, and after 20 minutes of trying, his bait got bitten by a 3 kilogram Kelah.

After we spent almost 5 hours fishing there and we managed to bring a 60L box full with fishes. We move back at 7PM after a very enjoyable moment. Although there is some tragedy happened while we were there, we still had a pleasant time there with load of fishes to bring back. We had planned before to held a BBQ party when we arrived our hometown, but we postponed it to Sunday because everyone of us was tired. All in all, it is the best fishing trip ever.

“Ya”
“Nakharrom.”
“Kamu akan diberi tugas untuk membunuh orang-orang yang MURTAD.”

My review :
For the first time in my life, I can feel the maximum feeling of sensation from my reading.  I can feel the differences between other Malay novels  when I first look at the front cover and its synopsis on the back of the book. This novel tells about the existence of a twin, Adam and Akhil which travel to Kuala Lumpur from Kedah to find a job. Adam and Akhil. The author portrayed Adam and Akhil as a tall and slender man, have a similarities in appearance, height, body shape and hair fashion. I noticed that too, maybe because of the name and they are in the same style, the author sometimes confused when Adam became Akhil, Akhil be Adam. But I do not care to much, it's a small offense to me, since I'm confused too. Haha.

According to its title, of course it have something to do with apostasy. Yes, it is. Adam and Akhil has been offered by "somebody" a job to kill apostates in Malaysia. Is not as easy as killing. First, that "somebody" will going to da'wah all of those apostates. After the 6th session of da'wah, if the apostate do not accept the truth, the "somebody" will send Adam and Akhil to demolish them. The author using "Utara" slang as the language of Adam and Akhil while communicating. I can feel the real situation occurred, while decode the slang that not really familiars with me.

The conflicts start when Akhil fall in love with Zulaikha, Pak Razak's daughter and Adam fall in love with Maria, Ghous's daughter. Pak Razak is one of the Ghous's debters, meanwhile Ghous is one of the apostates.

Need more information ? I think you should buy the novel, and trust me, it is RM 19.90 and it really worth your pennies. I'm sorry, I sucked up on giving a review. Haha, and my grammar sucks too -.-
